How do you become a member?

You have to be invited. But that sounds harder than it is. If you come out to our events, know some of our members, and really want to help make a difference in our community, and can demonstrate some level of commitment to this idea, we would love to have you.

It is not a complicated group to belong to. There are no dues. There are only two basic membership requirements. You have to donate a certain amount of your own money per year ($250) to one of the charities that we work with, and you have to raise a certain amount of money ($2000) by helping to create an event with the Gang.

That event could be your birthday party, where everyone brings a donation of $20 instead of a gift. It could be throwing a cocktail party at your house – and having a suggested donation for the cocktails (and we could have the liquor donated already.) It could be having a game night, where everyone chips in money to play, and all of the money “lost” goes to charity. It could be a silent auction where you auction off stuff from all of your friends (training sessions from your trainer, merchandise from a friend’s store, swag from a studio friend, etc.)

Who do we want in the Gang of One Hundred?

Someone who fits one or more of these criteria:

• A person with a desire to get involved and a commitment to follow through.

• A person who has never done volunteer or charity work before. A core tenet of our mission statement is to engage a whole new group of people in giving back to our community, to our world.

• A person who is already involved in charity work. These people will help us to focus our efforts. People who are heavily involved in existing charities will act as conduits to engaging the GOH in those charities.

• A person we want to hang out with. This is, first and foremost, meant to be a fun group. Part of the success of the group depends heavily on the people in the Gang and how much fun we have at our events together. Members should be gregarious, fun, charismatic people that you want to hang out with.

• A person who brings a specific skill set or resource to the table.

• A person with extensive and wide-ranging social networks and a willingness to use them. We want people who will reach out to their friends, acquaintances and work colleagues to engage more and more people. We like diversity, we like breadth. We want to reach as many people as possible.

• A person who wants to get involved but isn’t sure how to do so.
